If you’re looking to grab that top spot on Google, you might be wondering: Does Google My Business help improve SEO?
The short answer is yes, Google My Business can definitely help give your SEO a boost, especially if your organization has a physical location, you travel to your customers, or you serve a specific geographical area.
How Google My Business Helps Improve Local SEO
Google My Business offers plenty of overall benefits. It verifies your legitimacy as an organization, it provides a platform for reviews, and it tells people exactly what you do.
This can do wonders for your local SEO, which gives you a higher chance of appearing on the first page for relevant location-based searches.
For example, if you search for “pizzeria near me,” the first thing Google will show you is a list of pizza restaurants in your area that have Google My Business profiles.
The key, though, is optimizing your listing.
How to Optimize Your Google My Business Profile
To optimize your listing, make sure to fully fill out your organization’s information. That includes your address, phone number, and website at the very least.
Then, make sure you include relevant keywords. Think of what specific phrases people would search for to find you.
Lastly, update your listing regularly. Check every so often for new reviews and respond to each one, even if it’s negative. A thoughtful, kind response to a negative review is worth more than a handful of positive reviews that you never respond to.
You can also update your listing with local and relevant news, updates about your operations and hours, and deals or sales you have going on.
To highlight how important Google My Business is we interviewed Walter S. Moreira, CEO of Social Uprising Inc. – a Digital Marketing Agency in Orlando, FL that provides full-service online marketing services.
“A large number of Google searches are localized ones. Many businesses rely on the internet, if and if you are not using the power of digital marketing to its full disposal then you are falling behind.
The biggest key to GMB is to fill out as much information as possible everything from pictures, store hours, exact location information. The more you give the better your odds will be to rank high.
A Google my Business listing can help you gain new clients in your local area. It is something that I highly recommend to any business owner no matter what type of field they are in.”
